Have you every considered how many different types of computer users there are?In my opinion you could probably break them down into three distinct groups when it comes to a computer upgrade.

On the one hand you have the if it ain’t broke don’t fix it brigade who will quite happily carry on using their Pc for years and years until it finally give ups the ghost and there is no choice but to call in the local Computer maintenance technician.

Then you have the more interested computer user who most probably likes to keep up to date every couple of years, probably plays a few of last years games but does not really care for the latest and greatest.

And then of course you have the power users and boy do the computer components companies love these guys. Do they count the pennies? Well it seems not and many of them will spend more on their computer than on their car.

So how do the graphics card manufacturers feed the need? Yup you guessed it, they bring out an even more powerful graphics cards to help part these eager techno geeks (affectionate term) from their hard earned cash, and what do the games manufacturers do?

Well you guessed right, they make games that demand even more power and so the economic wheels of the computer hardware manufacturers move ever forward.

Now if you are one of those power hungry computer users you will undoubtedly by now be drooling at the mouth about NVIDIA’s latest offering. The GeForce 9800 GTX.

It would appear that the GeForce 9800 GTX whilst being a new generation of gaming card it is making use of the older already existing processing unit.

Surprisingly the uninitiated will equally be unaware of how much difference there can be between two different card manufacturers for what purports to be the same card.

Don’t take my word for it, pop over to tom’s hardware and check out some of the reviews. These guys really get into the thick of things when it comes to testing and really do distinguish the gold from the brass.

So my conclusion after reading the review on the GeForce 9800 GTX……I think I’ll wait a little longer yet because quite often when existing architecture is used there is a new breakthrough just around the corner that is just quite not ready enough for release.

But they have to release something in the interim otherwise they just might miss out on some market share (profit to you and I).

What Type Of Memory Is In My Pc ?

ElephantDrive Online Storage

Your computer is a delicate device that is very complex. Most people never truly understand how the machine works and what it is capable of doing. It handles so much information and at such a lightening fast rate. You can make it faster though with a very cost effective update.

It can be your own version of the Bionic Woman. With an upgraded memory module, your desktop Pc can be bigger, faster and stronger. You will be amazed at the difference.

Here are two terms you will hear used often when talking about a computer memory module and it refers to the capabilities of each one. The first is a DIMM which are Dual In Line Memory Modules. A SIMM is Single In-line Memory Modules. The faster a computer or CPU can access the information by keeping memory in a cache, the quicker the machine actually is and will perform, this is quite often a very overlooked fact when choosing a new Pc.

The DIMM is used for a RAM, or a Random Access Memory upgrade. Desktop computers and notebooks need this RAM and is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to increase your memory. But you will need to know a few things before you can do the upgrade. First, a SIMM uses a 32 bit data path, whereas a DIMM uses a 64 bit data path. Initially, the DIMM is still the faster unit to have running.

If you are looking to replace the DIMM, then you need to know what you are currently using. You will have to add up your memory capacity by counting groups of chips. Chips are measured in bits so you will have to do a little math. The convert bits into bytes, the formula is the number of bits divided by 8 bytes. The resulting number is the amount of mega bytes that you are currently using.

Once you know the terms and understand how important a memory module is to how your computer runs, it is time to go find new chips or mother boards. You can stack the chips and boards to create a faster running machine. If you find that you cannot do this or do not know where to begin, then you can take your computer into a repair shop where they can perform the upgrades for you.
