It happened to me, one of the worst things in the world. My computer died and I realized that although I owned an external hard drive, I had not at any point got round to backing up my files; and as a photographer that is cripplingly heartbreaking. Go to data storage for more information.

Fortunately, a computer genius of a friend of mine waved his magic wand and did something flashy with the hard drive, and after making me promise I will never ever not get around to backing up my files ever again, told me that he’d retrieved all my images. What a star. As I dried my tears I vowed to become compulsive about backing up absolutely everything and set out to check out the data storage reviews for the ideal data storage solution.

Firstly, I had to work out why I had not used the storage device I already had. All 400GB sitting there, empty. Why could I never be bothered? Whilst trawling storage reviews, I came across a device that answered my question. My sturdy workhorse from Freedom, all big and black and functional looking was just not ticking my girlie boxes. I hadn’t got round to using it because it I didn’t yearn to touch it, hold it and make it mine. Fortunately I’ve found the perfect answer.

The Buffalo MiniStation Lite has the same aesthetic appeal as a pair of Jimmy Choos, or Manolo’s depending on your taste. The sleek and shiny data storage device comes in black, which reminded me of the perfect handbag; red, which reminded me of the perfect patent shoes; and white, which reminded me of a storm trooper, so I felt like Princess Leia. On the technical side, it stores up to 500GB and comes in at a reasonable 150 GBP for the top spec version.

Another data storage device that caught my eye, also based on the aforementioned near loss of all my precious images, was the Kingston DataTraveller Micro USB stick. I’ve been using Kingston USB sticks for years, back when 1 gig of storage seemed enormous. They have always proved to be a stable and reliable device, and even though the standard silver finish doesn’t remind me of shopping for shoes or bags, I have always carried one around just in case I need to transfer files.

This offering from Kingston goes one step further than an ordinary USB stick, by incorporating a slot for a micro SD card, ideal for quick and easy transfer of files from a digital camera for example, onto a computer. This saves the inconvenience of searching through a draw full of cables. The stick is a standard 4GB and retails at a reasonably priced 15 GBP.

There is however an option that is said to combine style and portability. According to the data storage reviews the PNY Attach Lady Flash USB drive is flash in more than one way. The stick is emblazoned with a delicate floral design and has been designed to fill a niche in the market. Unfortunately I can’t help looking at it and thinking bog standard shoe rather that Manolo Blahnik magic.

The design isn’t exactly cutting edge and somehow reminds me of Joan Collins. The trouble with some attempts to create a stylish product is that it becomes a gimmick. This USB stick is a regular storage device with a sticker on and offers nothing other novelty pen drives can’t. In fact, I’d probably go for the ultimate in novelty USB sticks, the Lego Brick, or maybe the flashing duck, or even the animated USB dog that does what dog do whilst catering for all your storage needs. Is Online Data Backup Part of Your Disaster Recovery Plan?

ElephantDrive Online Storage

Whether you have a small business or a large corporation, one of the most valuable assets of your business is its electronic data. Your business’s electronic data consists of its financial information, documentation on clients and sales, and all other data stored on your computers and file servers.

Have you ever thought about what would happen to your company if you were the victim of any kind of disaster? Natural or man-made?

How expensive would the recovery effort be? Would your business be able to recover from such a loss? Where would you even begin the recovery process? All of these questions, and more, should be addressed in your company’s disaster recovery plan. Go to Disaster Recovery for more information.

Every single business today, large or small, should have a disaster recovery plan in place for its electronic data. No matter what the size or income of your company is, you need to be able to recover your electronic data if something happens to your servers or to your buildings.

To start to build your disaster recovery plan, you will have some serious choices to make about how you archive your data and where you will store it once it has been backed up.

One option for backing up your data is to back it up on tapes each day. If you have a small amount of data you can perform complete daily backups each evening when no one is in the building and using your file server.

If you choose to backup your data each night, you will need multiple tapes so that you will always have archives to restore from if the need ever arises and you find something wrong with one of your tapes.

If you perform onsite backups then you will need to take your media to an offsite location to store at least once each week. By storing a copy offsite, you make certain that if there is a disaster at your building then your data will still be available to you. This will help you if you have to rebuild your file servers from scratch. Refer to Disaster Recovery for more information.

The downside to onsite backup is that it requires you to have an information technology technician to physically change-out tapes. And, more importantly, they need to remember to move your media tapes offsite each week.

Another downside to localizing the task is that the media tapes can be very expensive to purchase, and you will probably need many of them for your nightly and weekly replication tasks.

A more attractive option to using onsite data backup is to perform all of your replication to an offsite backup location. You can do this by utilizing a professional online backup service.

To use a professional online data backup service you would simply schedule a time for your server to connect to your backup service and duplicate your data onto their server. The data will travel over the Internet, through a secure and encrypted channel.

There are many big advantages to using an online data backup service. You do not have to purchase tapes and tape drives. You do not have to have someone remember to physically change your tapes, and remember to bring them to an offsite location.

And, your data is much safer being stored a long way away from your business, in a safe and secure computing environment.

It is vital to the existence of your business to address the issue of backing up and storing your electronic data. By making a disaster recovery plan, which includes online backup services, you can be assured your data is safe and secure in case you need it for any reason. Businessman believes that time is money, and manager believes that good dealing with people and time is money.
Have you ever wondered what is the occupation of 21st century? My personal idea: it is a manager. Even though the internet business is on top right now it also would be nothing without a good management. A definition might say: management entails conducting or supervising something or someone or an actions taken to reach one’s intended goal. Bussiness one ensures the corporation turns a profit. Managers monitor and control work while helping a group of employees more successfully conduct their work than they would have without her.
No wonder that managers payments are good sometimes from their decissions depend if the company brings profits or loss. For more information visit voice recovery infrastructure

Management is almost all around, if you agrees with that or not. Managers in a variety of industries are taking on increasing responsibility while still ensuring the bottom line is met. The role is expanding but is often made more difficult through the lack of management training received. Some scientist says that management become a discipline of economy in 19th century and it begun in the United Kingdom. The next century brought many books about that issue for example ‘Science of management’ ‘Scientific management’. The first comprehensive theories of management appeared in the early 20th century. And the Master of Business Administration degree was invented back then. Till this time many other books were being written and special schools foundated. There is even a global Project Manager Institute that has it’s unites on the whole world. It has published a number of standards related to project management, and manages several levels of project management certification. It also has it’s unit in the UK (founded in 1995). For more information refer to business continuity management toolkit

Management is strictly connected with business, and it has also ‘built’ a different language structures like time management, money management, brand management, human resource management, financial management. Even public and educational sectors have been touched by management. Public and private sectors have different demands on managers, but it’s all about improvment, good communication and motivation. All of this makes the marketing of management trainings developing. Those companies who also provide such products like sales training, sales training course have many clients right now. The amount of people who take management training course, sales management training or want to learn about stress and time management is increasing. Management training consultants have a lot of work, cause the whole globe wants to gain wisdom how to manage well every task they are starting up – from France to Japan. And probably the management training UK (as a sales training course London) don’t vary so much from Japanese management training and sales course which is taken in Tokyo. Management skills training is the same everywhere.

All effective managers pay attention to leadership and learning within organizations, alike working with the group for a good motivation. But being a good manager doesn’t always goes with being a good leadership. As Warren Bennis said ‘Managers are people who do things right (while leaders are people who do the right thing). Thanks To Cheltenham Taxi Driver For Rushing Me To The Airport On Time

After a recent visit to the stunning regency town of Cheltenham in the heart of the Cotswolds, it becomes clear to see why this town is (or most of it) included within a conservation area of national importance.

When you arrive at Cheltenham Spa railway station, you are about a twenty minute walk from the centre of town, although there is a bus service into town, I decided that with all my luggage, that to hire a Taxi Cheltenham was a better idea, as that would take me directly to the new Express Holiday Inn. As it turned out, this hotel is the other side of the town centre from the railway, so I was happy that I did not attempt to walk it, even though most of the buildings on route deserved much more of my attention than they got, briskly passing them by in one of the finest Taxis In Cheltenham. The decision had already been made that I would have to have a good long slow walk around regency Cheltenham to take in some of the finest buildings that this fair town has to offer.

After booking in at the hotel it was time to go exploring the towns finest buildings, but this would be after a brisk visit to one of the towns newest developments, an old brewery that has been redeveloped into a leisure and retail area, that, enough be it on that subject!

I love the regency building style the Spa town of Cheltenham has to offer, it’s simply unique in it’s own right, unfortunately though, business called my stay short, so I had to jump into a Cheltenham Airport Taxi and dash to Birmingham Airport in time for a 21.00 hrs flight to Aberdeen.

Luckily for me, I had already booked a full week off work in the near future to attend The Cheltenham Literature Festival in early October, so I will be able to return then and have a full and undisturbed week to take in all that this delightful Cotswold town has to offer.

One place I also want to visit on my next trip is The Pittville Pump Rooms. Not very exiting you may think, but you would be wrong! Going back to about 1715, this is when Cheltenham’s Spa water was first discovered on the site as well as at Cheltenham Ladies Collage. In 1788 it is reported that Queen Charlotte visited and bathed in the waters along with George III. Jumping forward to 1825, this is when the first foundation stone was laid of what is now known, and quite famously as the present Pittville Pump Rooms. Anyway, seems I am going off beat again, Cheltenham I will return in October

Computer Storage Alternatives - Solid State Drives

Basically, solid state drives aren’t new but they made a huge splash in 2007 at the Consumer Electronic Show held in Las Vegas. They were heralded as the solution to many problems facing those of us who love portable computing. Solid State devices have been in use for commercial and military application a lot longer but te sheer enormous cost of this technology has kept it far out of the reach of all but the wealthiest of personal computer owners.

Basically these devices are types of hard drives which do not rely on magnetic media for their memory storage. Instead, they use semiconductors much like flash memory drives already do. In fact, both of these storage devices use similar non-volatile memory chips. However, the main difference between the two is that the solid state drive is not used as an external memory storage system like flash drives. They are built to be installed internally in place of a traditional hard drive.

If you’re wondering why using SSD’s would be a good idea, there are several advantages being promoted by industry insiders. This is where most of the promises come into the picture. Basically, these drives are considered great inventions because they are believed to deliver three amazing benefits: reduced power usage, faster access to memory, and improved reliability. All of these benefits are a result of the differences in the way solid state drives and traditional hard drives work.

Most of us have at least a basic understanding of how our hard drives work. Inside them are spinning magnetic platters where everything we do on our computers is saved. To work though, they rely on drive motors to move them. If anything happens to those motors or to the drive heads, then our hard drive ceases to function correctly and we’ll end up shopping for a new laptop or desktop.

These alternative drives don’t have all of those extra parts. Everything is done through Flash memory chips and most of us know that the portable Flash memory we use in our cameras and other storage devices does a pretty good job of saving quickly and of working when we need it to.

Evidence has shown that these drives do wonderful when you’re reading average size files. You’ll be able to access them quickly. However, if you’re working with large files or trying to save large files, you won’t see those fast speeds.

Do consider however that these drives are still in their infancy in terms of this type of use so that doesn’t mean these problems won’t be corrected down the line and we are already seeing a significant improvement.

Another huge promise is improved battery life for laptops because of the reduced power requirements. For one, this promise could never really deliver because the hard drive isn’t what uses up most of your laptop’s battery in the first place. Generally, you’re only talking about a 5% improvement in battery life and that’s not much of a bargain considering how much these drives add to the price of a laptop.

Finally, we can look at reliability. Since the drives haven’t been available that long, we really need more time to evaluate this claim. However, we do know that unlike traditional hard drives which can be written on indefinitely. Solid state drives can only be rewritten about 100,000 times – that may sound like a lot but it’s not.
